Young Peoples Fishing Days 2008 Following the interest shown by young people in the area over the past couple of years and the success of previous days, there will be three organised fishing days in 2008 for young people to come along, meet other people sharing the same interests, have a go and learn to fly-fish. Friday 11th April. Friday 1st August. Friday 15th August. 9.30am start at the Angling and Water Sports Centre to 4.30pm. Cost: £15 per person. This will include tackle and equipment, instruction and a SWLT permit to fish. The day will cover tackle and equipment and how to assemble it, knots and leaders, casting tuition and practice, insect identification and flies followed by as much fishing under supervision with help and guidance in a relaxed atmosphere with the essence on fun. You will need to wear appropriate clothing, bring a packed lunch and plenty to drink, fly fishing tackle if you have it, a warm coat and wet weather gear, Wellingtons, a hat and eye protection (Polarised). Fly Fishing Courses 2008 Would you like to learn to fly fish, have a taster and `have-a-go’, or improve your skills and learn new methods and techniques? Then come and join us. On your own, Father and Son, Families or Groups, come and enjoy the experience with like minded people in a relaxed and enjoyable manner with the emphasis on fun. Sunday 6th April, Bank Fishing Sunday 11th May, Boat Fishing Sunday 18th May, Bank Fishing Sunday 22nd June, Boat Fishing Sunday 6th July, Bank Fishing Sunday 7th September, Bank Fishing Sunday 21st September, Boat Fishing 9am start at the Angling and Water Sports Centre to 5pm. Cost: £20.00 per person. There will be an additional £10.00 on boat days. This will include instruction, tackle, fishing licence and a one fish permit. The courses will cover tackle and how to assemble it, knots and leaders, casting tuition and practise, flies and a little entomology, methods and tactics followed by as much fishing under supervision with help and guidance as possible. Bring your own tackle if you have it, a pack lunch with plenty to drink, a warm coat and wet weather gear, wellingtons or waders, a hat and eye protection (Polarised) and wear suitable clothing. The courses will be organised and run by John Dawson Fly Fishing with help and co-operation from South West Lakes Trust and the Environment Agency. All instructors will be qualified and licensed. The Environment Agency will supply extra instructors when required. Fly-fishing and Fly Dressing Courses Two 8-week courses on Tuesday evenings 7 to 9 pm starting in September and January. The courses are aimed at those wishing to start fly-fishing and those who would like to improve their skills and techniques. The courses will cover tackle, how to set it up and balance it, Lines, leaders, casting, watercraft and a little entomology.
