ITINERARY B - Rift Valley ~
Mt Kenya ~ Samburu ~ Mara & Coast
Day 1 -
Nairobi ~ Rift Valley
Arrive Nairobi, met and driven for 1½ hrs into the Rift
Valley to Malewa
River Lodge on Kigio Wildlife Conservancy. Time to relax followed by
lunch.
Late afternoon spend fishing in the Malewa River for Rainbow trout.
Overnight Malewa River Lodge.
Day 2 - Rift
Valley
Early breakfast then depart for the Aberdare National Park - a drive of
approx., 1½ hrs and a day spent fishing various streams in
this highland
park. Altitude of approx., 8000 ft. Possibilities of seeing, elephant,
buffalo and also visiting some very pretty waterfalls cascading 300 ft.
Return to Malewa River Lodge for overnight.
Day 3 - Rift
Valley
A day of options - Visit Lake Nakuru National Park for game viewing
with the
possibilities of seeing lion, leopard, black and white rhino as well as
flamingo, pelican and many other bird species; or visit Lake Naivasha
and
try some fishing for large mouth black bass in this fresh water lake; or
stay at Kigio and fish the Malewa for trout or a game walk or drive and
relax. Overnight Malewa River Lodge.
Day 4 - Rift
Valley ~ Mount Kenya
Depart Malewa River Lodge early in the morning and drive to Nanyuki
airstrip - a drive of approx., 3 hrs then short charter flight from
Nanyuki
to Lake Rutundu on the moorlands of Mt Kenya at an altitude of 13,000
ft.
Rest of the day spend fishing for Rainbow trout on Lake Rutundu and
possibly, Lake Alice. Overnight Rutundu log cabins on self catering
basis.
Day 5 -
Mount Kenya ~ Samburu Game Reserve
Mid morning collected from Rutundu and flown back to Nanyuki airstrip
where
your driver/guide and vehicle is awaiting you and continue to Samburu
Game
Reserve in the hot and arid northern part of Kenya. Lunch en route. Late
afternoon game drive in this game reserve famous for it's beautiful
scenery
as well as some species of wildlife specified to the area. Overnight
lodge
in Samburu.
Day 6 -
Samburu Game Reserve
Full day spent with early morning, mid morning game drives and if
wished and
possible a walk. Late afternoon game drive looking at elephant, Bisa
oryx,
reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, Grevy zebra as well as the big
cats.
Day 7 -
Samburu ~ Masai Mara Game Reserve
After breakfast, transfer to airstrip for your flight to Masai Mara,
arriving in time for lunch. Met and transferred to your lodge. Late
afternoon game drive in this famous reserve where most species of
wildlife
are found on the rolling plains. Overnight lodge or camp in the Masai
Mara.
Day 8 -
Masai Mara ~ Lake Victoria
Next day, early morning flight of one hour to Lake Victoria, the world's
second largest fresh water lake. Breakfast, then proceed for the morning
fishing for giant Nile Perch sometimes reaching 100 lbs or more.
Overnight
at lodge on lakeshore.
Day 8 - Lake
Victoria ~ Masai Mara
Next day morning fishing, lunch, then fly back to Masai Mara. Afternoon
game
drive. Overnight lodge or camp in the Masai Mara.
Day 9- Depart
Early morning game drive returning for breakfast then catch scheduled
flight
of approx., one hour to Nairobi and proceed to Malindi to the Driftwood
Hotel.
Final day return to Nairobi in
time to catch connecting flight home.
